Board of Directors

A board of directors governs the Four County Labour Market Planning Board. A variety of Labour Market Partner Groups are represented on the local board.

Labour Market Partner Groups include:

Aboriginal

A representative of one of two First Nations located within the board’s boundaries will be appointed to promote awareness and understanding of aboriginal issues and perspectives.

Business

Leaders, from primary business sectors including but not limited to finance, human resources, communications, agriculture and manufacturing, will provide direction on issues affecting business growth in the region and can be referred or self-identified for appointment to the board.

Educators and Trainers

A representative involved in education and training within the board region will keep the board aware of the changes within the educational system. Individuals can either be referred or self-identify for appointment to the board.

Ethnic Minorities

With a diverse background and different socialization experiences, a representative, who differs in race, colour or religious or cultural origin, and is referred by an organized group or expresses self- interest will be appointed to bring their specialized expertise to board discussions.

Labour

To protect the interests of all workers (unionized and non-unionized), candidates will be selected by union locals, operating within the four-county region, for appointment to the board.

Persons with Disabilities

A representative will be appointed to inform and educate fellow board members on accessibility issues, inclusive work environments and workplace barriers (physical and attitudinal) to represent their interests at the board table

Women

A woman will be appointed to bring unique expertise and perspectives to discussions and inform and educate members on the importance of social justice and equity policies in recruitment and employment. The referral may be from an organized group or an expression of self-interest.

Youth

A youth (age 18-30) will be recruited through various networks to serve as the voice for youth and in turn, assist the board to gain a full range of perspectives on issues and to demonstrate their commitment to youth leadership.
